Maple Chocolates

Every spring, vianne chocolat ushers in the season with our maple chocolates. We make the annual trip to Parker’s Maple Barn in New Hampshire to pick up some maple syrup, fresh from the sugar house. Then we blend the simply sweet maple syrup with a 40 percent milk chocolate and tuck the filling into a dark chocolate dome. Each dome shines bright with edible gold dust to hint at the golden sweetness contained inside.

Hazelnut Praline Chocolates

Our hazelnut praline chocolates start with freshly toasted hazelnuts that we coat in a fragrant dark amber liquid sugar. After they cool we pulverize the hazelnut sugar mixture, fold in just a touch of milk chocolate and encase the filling in a dark chocolate square. When you bite into these delightful cacao bean adorned squares you’re met with a rich, crunchy, buttery hazelnut filling.

Pug Bars and a Cause

Our pug bars are made using a 66 percent fair-trade, organic chocolate and get their adorable shape from an antique mold reproduction. The best part about these cute little six pugs sitting in a line is that we’ve partnered with the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) and donate 25 cents of each pug bar sale to this wonderful organization.

Why the MSPCA? There are so many worthy organizations out there. But, when we were looking to support an organization we felt it was important to choose one that had an impact on our personal lives at vianne chocolat. Angell Memorial Hospital, a part of the MSPCA, was instrumental in saving the life of our Chief Chocolatier and Owner’s dog Isabella. Years ago Isabella became very sick one Saturday afternoon. After a half day at her vet running tests, there was still no definite answer as to what was wrong with her. We decided to take her to Angell Memorial and after one ultrasound discovered she needed emergency gall bladder surgery.

The doctors and staff were compassionate and understanding and most importantly quick. The facilities are built with the differing needs of pet owners in mind in order to make everyone comfortable in what is usually an uncomfortable situation.

Seven years later and Isabella just celebrated her 10th birthday and we’re continuing the celebration by choosing to make our charity of choice the MSPCA. We hope you’ll join us by purchasing a pug bar.

November 26 is a big day for everyone at vianne chocolat. It’s the second annual Small Business Saturday, when people across the country come out and shop to support their favorite local businesses.

Sam Adams is hosting a Small Business Saturday Marketplace at their Brewery (right across from our kitchen) and vianne chocolat will be there with fresh chocolates and decorative chocolate boxes by local artist Katherine Downey Miller (also located right across from the vianne chocolat kitchen). It’s the perfect start to your holiday shopping and a wonderful way to show your support for local small business.
